Chris McLaughlin of FOE Aerie #326 has entered a contest and hopes to be able to donate $250,000 of the prize to the FOE Diabetes Research Center. The video with the most votes will win. You can vote one time per day through 11/3. ITEMS OF SPECIAL INTEREST:
From the August “Rebel Yell” VA FOE State Newsletter: Proposed mastectomy law change called “Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act” which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. Currently mastectomy patients are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctors because that’s typically all the insurance company will pay for. According to “Snopes”, this legislation has been introduced in both legislatures just about every year since 1997 and it has never gotten off the Hill to the White House for signature. Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support……please vote so that the law can be changed. Go to http://www.mylifetime.com/my-lifetime-commitment/breastcancer/petition/breast-cancer-petition#signit-display-form or you can contact you own legislators at www.usa.gov/conmtact/elected.shtml and ask why they haven’t been able to get this bill out of Senate and Congress in the past 13 years. I just signed the petition and the only thing that was required was your full name, email, city and state. Please take a minute to sign this very important petition. Let’s get these patients the care they need.
Please register as a user on the “foewdc.org” webpage. As the webpage gets more established, we will be generating all FOE news from there to include this Weekly Email Newsletter which if registered, will come to you automatically when it’s posted on the webpage. This email distribution list will be discontinued. Please register at your earliest convenience to ensure no disruption in receiving FOE news. Please be sure to include your real first and last name when registering.
